My name is Juniper Irén Blomberg (she/her). I was born and raised in the San Juan Islands and believe in the necessity of story and the magic of tea and the nourishment that can be drawn from both.
All my life, I have practiced art and writing/story in some form. I was raised with a deep sense of place and surrounded by craft (from wood carving to basket making to felting to sewing), and as I get older, I am intentionally choosing over and over to delve deeper into these qualities and practices. My art is influenced by my experience of place and belonging, folklore and mythology, and the feminine. I work with the intention of creating positive change, and primarily endeavor to do so through the meshing of new perspectives with remembrance of the old ways.
My creations are in ink, watercolor, and gouache, with some ventures into oil paint and textiles.
