NEA Grant – Alchemy Arts Center, San Juan Island

NEA Grant - Alchemy Arts Center, San Juan Island.

News from Alchemy Arts.

We are beyond excited to announce that Alchemy Art Center has been approved for a $10,000 Challenge America award to support our 2022 “Artists in Community” project!  This project will connect Artists in Residence with the San Juan Island community through free art programming in town, youth mentorship opportunities, artist talks, and more.  We are incredibly grateful to the NEA for the opportunity to grow this program!

“Artists in Community” is among 168 projects across America totaling $1,680,000 that were selected to receive fiscal year 2022 funding in the Challenge America grant category. “The National Endowment for the Arts is proud to support arts projects like this one from Alchemy Art Center that help support the community’s creative economy,” said NEA  Acting Chair Ann Eilers.

“Alchemy Art Center on San Juan Island is among the organizations nationwide that are using the arts as a source of strength, a path to well-being, and providing access and opportunity for people to connect and find joy through the arts.”

"I think the cultural exchange between artists in residence and our local community is one of the most exciting programs at Alchemy Art Center.  AIRs get to experience the beauty and inspiration that is San Juan Island, while our community benefits from fresh perspectives and new energy."

Alchemy Art Center is committed to providing arts programming to all residents of San Juan Island, and creating connection between islanders, particularly youth, and visiting artists.
