What happens when you mix color and visual texture through the medium of fabric? Exploring the balance between fabric color, geometric shape and print size, my pieces come to life and bring traditional quilt patterns into the 21st century: interpreting our world through fiber arts, much the way women have done for centuries.
With no formal training in design or color theory, I work intuitively. My time spent in the studio is always a lesson in life….how to listen, when to push, when to follow. I started quilting before the advent of rotary cutters, Plexiglas rulers or the internet. My first quilt was a true Crazy Quilt with fabrics from every part of my life. Nonetheless that first quilt lived a long and well-loved life. In the intervening years I’ve picked up valuable techniques and tips. Most importantly, I’ve learned to trust my intuitive color sense. My current focus is on the rights of Nature and humans and the dance between the two.
I consider myself to be a textural story teller and quilts are my language of love.
