Archipelago wines speak to where we live. Our little archipelago, the San Juan Islands, is filled with brilliance. The sea, the wildlife, the people here, are rich in diversity and yet tightly interconnected. They inspire us to celebrate our climate, our island culture, and our relationships. It is a place - and wine - of intention.
Our wines are intentionally bright, bubbly, petillant-naturel snapshots of the vineyard. We use low-intervention techniques to capture the character of the grapes in the bottle. We source grapes from the most local vineyards possible and it is our hands that pick, press, ferment, bottle, and label each vessel. Our small batch production is as intentional as our wine. It allows us to be 100% participatory in the entire process.
We align ourselves with growers that we trust. These growers care about the vineyard, about winemaking, the way we do. They care about the environment and make choices toward sustainability. They care about people, including their staff, their partners, and their customers. They just do the right thing.
We look for these people locally, because ‘local’ checks off more boxes than any other consumer label does. Local means we cause less environmental impact, we start with fresher ingredients that require less intervention, we are able to build closer relationship to the grower, we have more influence on the process, more hands-on opportunity. Local means we know the terroir. We experience the growing conditions and we understand the farming decisions that must be made. We know the grower’s story and he knows ours. Local means this wine speaks about our place, our time, in a way that other wines cannot.
We also strive to build relationship with the local market first. No one gets to this island by mistake. The consumers and vendors that are here, have come here for a reason. Local entrepreneurs are here on purpose. Tourists come here on purpose, residents move here with purpose, and here we are. We run into these people daily. They are in it with us, and we with them. It is what island culture means.
We invite you to join us on this journey. It is one of intention, of experiment, of hard work rewarded with a quality product, one we are excited to share with you, our world.
