Abigail grew up as a wild island hippie child on the bitsy island of Lopez in the Salish Sea. She surprised herself by returning to raise a family here. Walk Deep, her first book, won the 2021 Homebound Publications Poetry Prize, a 2023 Nautilus Book Award, and is currently nominated for a Pushcart Prize. Walk Deep was published by Wayfarer Books/ Homebound Publications in October 2022. This book is a love letter to Lopez Island, specifically to a forest path on Lopez Hill that functions as her muse.
Abigail is passionate about the role that nature and poetry plays in personal transformation and leadership. Abigail lives with her husband, Clive, and their children Iona and Jax on Lopez Island in the forests and on the beaches where she rambled as a child. Every morning you can find her singing to the island forest with her silky black lab, Bella.
Abigail's debut poetry book, Walk Deep, was created during Covid using the nature-based method of the Spiral Way, a model which braids together Attunement to the natural word, Daring to Share and connecting with others in a Resonant Field. This book was written as an offering to the forest path she walked every day since the beginning of the COVID pandemic. Inspired as much by the poetry of Mary Oliver, Ada Limon, Padraig O Tuama, and David Whyte, as by the songs of the Salish Sea in the Pacific Northwest, Walk Deep is an inspiration for fellow travelers who wish to harvest the hard-won gold from their own unique journeys.
Abigail is a consultant with Spiral Leadership.
