Hi My Name is Mia Harrison. I have lived on Orcas Island since 2019, moving from Anacortes, WA where I was a resident for 29 years. I have always had an interest in the arts be it music performance, voice, guitar, sound recording, fiber craft, drawing, pattern making and printing. I have fun gardening and love having access to the farm stands on Orcas. *Currently, I have been working with making rag baskets and rugs. I enjoy crocheting regularly and I have begun teaching myself to knit. In the area of the fiber arts I am a novice. I also enjoy digital art creation. I use a variety of Adobe Products to create digital art like drawing, prints and patterns. I experiment quite a bit with digital mediums and programs. I have an Associate Technical Arts degree in Interactive Multimedia from Skagit Valley College and experience as a teacher of school children in Digital Arts, now retired. *I am looking to learn more and get experience in working with fiber and textiles, especially loom weaving. I hope by joining the Makers Guild I can network with like minds, take classes and learn from others. *I also have dedicated a number of years to sound recording and music performance. I consider myself a professional musician performing throughout the Northwest. If you would like to hear some of my recordings and performances, you can access them via Spotify and YouTube. Mia Vermillion, album “Alone Together With the Blues.” I studied vocal performance at the Lionel Hampton school of Jazz, University of Idaho as well as the university’s classical vocal performance program. I ran my own Sound and Recording Studio for several years, Vermillion Music Studio, closing it in 2016. You can listen to me via Spotify: https://tinyurl.com/5xhwfbw8
