How To Promote Events through the Makers Platform

We are happy to provide you with several ways to promote your events. The three following free options are for Maker Members only and are done in sequence, with a minimum of #1.

1. Create an Event Listing in the Makers Directory

If it is a free or fee-based activity open to on-island and/or visiting guests, use a Professional or Organization listing and as you start to build the event listing, be sure to select the CATEGORY your event belongs in one of these three Activities choices:

– Maker Workshop

– Maker Tour

– Event / Activity

Follow the Pro/Org listings directions. Be sure to include Title, photos, a compelling description, date and time, location, and contact information (email, web site, phone etc). In your description, you can include a link out to your web site page about the event, or to Eventbrite of other event management site. You can also just note the email or phone for registration.

When your listing goes active, email support@sanjuanmakersguild.com to ask for help promoting your activity through our media groups. If you have a specific audience (type, location) please note that in your email.

2. Add to Your Island's Maker Events Calendar

To add your Event to the community calendar for your island (or all islands), first click the button below ( or email support@sanjuanmakersguild.com ) to request Calendar access. In your email, please send a short description of type of listings you will want to post so we can review and approve. Once we add you to Calendar access, you can post events that link to your more detailed Event Listing you created in the Maker Directory per #1 above.

When ready to add your Event notice to the Guild’s Calendar of Events, create your title, set event dates and times, and in the body of the Calendar description, add the link to your event’s Directory Listing that you created in #1, or to your web site, event mangement page, phone or email for registration. Then SAVE. You hae the option to create a listing on all 3 islands, as separate calendar listings if offering something of county wide interest.

3. How to Request a Featured Listing in the Guild Marketing Media

To request a Feature Listing that has prominent visibility on the Guild’s web site in several areas, and is sent out to local or regional press, send us a press release. Include an event description and the Guild Directory Listing web address (copied from URL bar after completing #1).

The Guild may be able to feature these informative pieces on our web site and in our regional marketing. Be sure to add a link to your web site where the event is described in detail, or to an Eventbrite listing if you are registering through their system (or another online event management tool). Eventbrite allows you to host a free event at no cost and offers a great platform for managing event communication with easy sign-ups and automated reminders.

Submit at least 2 weeks in advance for Guild web site feature; 4 weeks for regional media features, to support@sanjuanmakersguild.com
