The Kitchen is Serving!
Local food on island plates really is the basis of building the local food economy. One of the restaurants pioneering island grown ingredients on Orcas has been The Kitchen and this summer they are being awarded Food Heroes recognition. The Food Heroes project is a collaboration of the San Juan Islands Agricultural Guild, The Conservation District, and the Makers Guild with the goal of highlighting leaders in the local food movement.
To celebrate The Kitchen and their years of feeding the community and visitors excellent local grown and Asian fusion foods, a special dinner is being held on August 5th in West Sound. Tickets for the country-style dinner are available online and the venue is the Yacht Club and Community Hall. Dinner is at 6 overlooking the sea, followed by music in the Community Hall featuring the incomparable Rafe Pearlman and friends.
Join us in honoring Charles and Jasmine for their gifts to our community – and to celebrate their forthcoming ventures as pop-up and catering purveyors of wonderful meals. Donations can be made online and do not require attending the dinner. Salmon and vegan options for dinner.
