Mary Jane Elgin

Mary Jane grew up, drawing, painting, sewing and calligraphy filled her free time. She graduated with a major in studio art from Pomona College and headed for Japan where she lived for two years, studying sumie painting and weaving. In the early 1990’s she began a serious exploration into the world

of ceramics at the Creative Arts Group in Sierra Madre and developed the technique of piercing her ceramics to create botanical and landscape scenes, reminiscent of the Arts and Crafts Movement.

She has taught art classes and been a freelance muralist and illustrator for the last thirty years. Her artistic vision has led her on a search for ways to combine the themes and forms which resonate with her. In an effort to create a new and unique space,  she has been refining her ceramic techniques, bringing to the viewer to a fresh consideration of form along with a new appreciation for materials and esthetic.

Sharon Ho

Sharon Ho is a contemporary ceramic and assemblage artist whose works express movement and life through hand built, organic forms. Vessels are bulbous, ripe with possibility and invite holding. Surfaces suggest fluidity, relying on undulating hand built texture and softly layered glazes to reflect light in unexpected ways.

Her assemblage artwork juxtapose ceramic centerpieces with felted wool, fibre, driftwood and found objects in combinations of textures that are clearly influenced by the sea and forests that surround her home on Orcas Island in the Pacific Northwest.

Founder of Optimism and Co. and co-convener of Felt+Ceramic Studio in Eastsound, Sharon is an arts educator and active in local student music performance activities. Photographic prints, cards and bound books by Sharon are also on exhibit in the Studio that is shared by several artists and artisans as group work and exhibit space.

Zackarya Leck

Zach is working on custom public and private residential art installations as a blacksmith with a keen eye for the natural world. His large scale pieces may reflect the tides moving through a bed of bull kelp, marine creatures or, on land, the arching branches of a tree and the birds that find rest upon the smallest twig.

See more of Zack's work in our Artisan Gallery.
