Charlie MacPherson has been working with clay on the pottery wheel for more than 40 years. She took her first pottery class in 7th grade, ultimately graduating from college with a double major: invertebrate zoology and ceramics. She lives in Deer Harbor and runs the Owl Barn Pottery Studio where she produces functional pieces for the home, creates whimsical bird houses, and gives private lessons.
Charlie’s forms are aesthetically pleasing and functional. She makes vessels in all shapes and sizes for flowers; bowls to hold fruit, oatmeal, or trinkets; and mugs that are perfectly balanced to hold that steaming cup of coffee.
She embarked on a birdhouse project to make 100 one-of-a-kind bird houses ranging from country cottages to yellow submarines. She is on #75.
Throughout the school year she holds weekly private lessons with students and in the summer she offers one-time sessions where people can come and experience the wheel and then pick out a glaze for their piece. She will ship the final product when ready.
